THE ART OF THE MOONCAKE

Mid-Autumn Festival is a moment for reunion, a time to come together with the greatest treasures in our lives. This year, The House Collective Mooncake Box Set contains a special treasure to discover. Crafted as works of art in their own right, each one carries the spirit of our Houses within.

Mid-Autumn Festival is a moment for reunion, a time to come together with the greatest treasures in our lives. This year, The House Collective Mooncake Box Set contains a special treasure to discover. Crafted as works of art in their own right, each one carries the spirit of our Houses within.

The doors leading to each of our Houses are special. They represent the beginning of your journey with us, full of secrets to discover within. This is mirrored when opening our mooncake box, which reveals not only the mooncakes but a treasure inside in the form of art pieces iconic to our Houses.

In The Opposite House's atrium, you can find Hubei artist Li Xiaofeng’s sculpture made of shattered blue-and-white porcelain shards from the Ming and Qing dynasty.
Italy-based born in Hong Kong sculptor, Cynthia Sah’s piece located at L6 of The Upper House reflects the Chinese philosophy of essential equilibrium. Sah’s pieces are often sensual and curvaceous, and reside in a stark yet aesthetically pleasing contrast to the geometric lines of André Fu’s distinct design at The Upper House.
In The Temple House’s courtyard, the exquisite “feather” sculpture by Chinese-American artist Wu Hai Ying stands proudly, elegantly mirroring the celestial sky above while capturing intricate details of the thousand-year-old building.
Within The Middle House residence lobby, you can find this metal sculpture by island6 of a metal cage “Escape Attempt” crammed full of delicate porcelain vases.

Classic Yet Creative

Classics are classics for a reason, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look to innovate. The eight mini mooncakes in The Opposite House, The Temple House and The Middle House mooncake box sets come in inspired, creative flavours of Jujube Paste Walnut, XO Scallop, Orange Yuzu and Longjing Tea Custard Lava Mooncake.

Tradition Meets Modernity

Mooncakes without the guilt. Our modern take on the traditional Mid-Autumn treat in The Upper House mooncake box set offers alternatives for different dietary restrictions, with the Maltitol Low Sugar White Lotus Seed Paste with Yolk flavour, and Vegan Mooncake with Nuts and Figs. The box set’s eight mini mooncakes in four flavours also include flavours like Earl Grey Tea Custard and Coffee and Salted Caramel Custard.

THE GIFT OF SUSTAINABILITY

Continuing our partnership with Hong Kong-based design firm EDITECTURE, we created gift boxes that embody our commitment to a sustainable future. 2,500 used plastic bottles were upcycled to create all the miniature door handles that sit on each box.

We collected over 2,500 used plastic bottles, and used our shredder to shred them into tiny pieces so that they can be melted and upcycled. Through this process, we are able to create rPET (recycled PET), which is then put through the injection machine with our unique moulds to create the special door knobs.
