For this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, The House Collective celebrates the happiness, harmony and unity of this festive tradition. We took inspiration from the Chinese tradition of curio boxes and Ping An Kou amulets that families used as a symbol to pass peace and safety down their lineage. Like the Ping An Kou, we hope these mooncake gift boxes and the happiness, harmony and unity of the season will be passed on from one generation to the next.
LITTLE TREASURE CHESTS
Four unique mooncake box sets capture the spirit and personalities of our Houses, taking cues from the signature looks of each one. The box design is inspired by curio boxes, finely wrought treasure chests from a century ago that were filled with precious antiques for the emperor’s pleasure. Our mooncake boxes carry on that same delight – full of surprises to discover, just like our Houses.

Our vision of sustainable development served as our North Star throughout the design process. Elevating the eco-friendly concept, we used glass bottles and uniforms collected from the Houses to make into recycled material for each box’s “jade” Ping An Kou amulet. The spirit of sustainability can continue by upcycling the box set as your own treasure chest of curios or reimagining the Ping An Kou as a stylish fashion or home accessory.
