Breathe in, breathe out…This year across our Houses, we’re prioritising wellness in all its many forms. At The Temple House, there are Singing Bowl sessions throughout summer while over at The Upper House, General Manager Kristina has curated a whole line-up of wellness activities. And guess what? This year is a big one for us: we’re celebrating our 50th anniversary with the Swire Properties Original. Always. exhibition.
“Wellness to me is a lifestyle, encompassing overall well-being to create healthy, happy habits daily which are good for the soul,” says The Upper House’s General Manager Kristina. We chat to her about the wellness initiatives and partnerships she’s launched at The Upper House, plus her day-to-day and own healthy routines to destress and unwind.
It’s a lifestyle for me and it’s about balance. I exercise five to six days out of seven as routine, which is just about getting moving, sweating and being outdoors in the mornings. It makes me happy more than anything. My family and my team know that if I don’t, they will encounter a very grumpy person! I much prefer to be out in nature running, hiking or swimming then on a treadmill or at a CrossFit class.
The Upper House is named to symbolise an “upward journey” to a retreat above the bustling city. We conjure a sense of relaxation not only through our design and architecture, but also by collaborating with different partners to provide an all-encompassing wellness experience to our Guests.
In residence at The Upper House and co-founded by friend of our House, Lindsay Jang, Family Form is a dynamic and immersive conditioning workout designed with hand and ankle weights and hosted in optimal conditions to enhance and motivate – heat, humidity and bold music. We recently worked with Lindsay to launch Family Food in Salisterra, offering a menu of perfectly curated salads inspired by Lindsay’s favourite combinations.
We have partnered with GOOD Yoga to offer complimentary weekend yoga classes for our in-House guests. They are also in resident with us to offer a wide range of classes daily. The classes focus on the fundamental yoga poses that make up a well-rounded yoga practice.
V Healing with Sabrina Villard offers shamanic healing, the most ancient form of spirituality and a practice that has existed in some form throughout time and history, born as a response to society’s well-being needs. Sabrina helps our guest to release images, information and emotions that have an impact on our everyday lives, and is able to offer sound, sustainable remedies that resonate strongly.
Stone & Star was founded to share the beauty and wonders of crystals and the cosmos, and how they can become allies in our own journeys of healing, finding inner peace, and happiness. Our partner Stone and Star offer oracle and tarot reading, as well as crystal viewing.
We also host our own #TUHRunningClub on the first Monday of every month, led by UESCA certified running coach Andrew Wong and our team, along the harbour front route (6.5km) from Wan Chai to Sai Ying Pun.
Singing bowl healing transfers energy through audio and vibrational frequencies, allowing resonance to course through you and making for a gentle soothing sensation from the inside out, both for body and mind.
Staying at home? Kyle Zhou, Assistant Manager at Mi Xun Spa, has the tips to get you started on this journey of relaxation. First, he advises, queue up some “Singing Bowl Healing” music (available on the internet with a quick search) and play it in a quiet setting. Settle into a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down, before using scent of massage oil on your wrists or behind the ears. Then just lie back, close your eyes and let the sound wave massage wash over you.
How time flies! In 2022, Swire Properties is celebrating 50 years of bringing original ideas into the world. In much the same way, The House Collective aims to make happier, healthier communities with arts and culture for everyone, lead in sustainability and place people first. We’re future-focused with a lot of local pride.
Originality has always set us apart. It’s central to what we stand for – in the past, present and future. To commemorate this 50th anniversary, Original. Always. will spotlight 50 Stories of originality and host a series of exciting events across our cities.
