SHANGHAI TEXTURES MEET BEIJING GEOMETRY

Encounters Across Cultures 2021

Encounters Across Cultures 2021 is an interactive engagement between dance and architecture. It allows the audience to create their own journey through the unique spaces of the Houses with dance movements and time.

The audience is invited to join two dance artists, Yu Jinying and Li Xingmeng, as they explore the unique spaces of the Houses. The audience is in charge of the time and pace of the dance.

“What could be considered ironic is when we take the time to fully appreciate beauty, time ceases to exist.”  Patsy Lo, Curator

“Dance in its very essence, is movement in Space and Time. We leave to the audience the power of playing with Time.”

- acno, Choreography & Direction

To encounter is not just to experience. It is also to participate.

That's why it was important for the team to create an interactive experience, inviting the audience to move together.  To show how our action or inaction could impact our experiences.

Experience it for yourself at The Middle House and see how your movements make a difference.
