In celebration and the refreshing of the hotel lobby in 2019, Kengo Kuma has designed a huge soft glowing "Origami" in the central Atrium as a reception wall. This object of light becomes a new landmark for the hotel guests and illuminates the entire atrium space used for art exhibitions and events. Based on a lightweight suspension structure made of acrylic plates and metal frames to maximize the light transmission, Kengo Kuma applied a translucent synthetic textile with hand-paper-like texture called Tyvek, and created a screen of light with organic texture and shades.

We are always seeking out new ways to recycle and minimise waste. Our team has shifted to using more biodegradable materials for items such as garbage bags, while all leftover soaps are donated to Soap Cycling, an organisation which works with WASH charities across Asia to recycle and redistribute soap to underprivileged communities who need it most.
