Art and fashion collide at The Middle House. Inspired by Shanghai’s reputation as a fashion capital we partnered with local design collective Dirty Pineapple for The House Collective’s art programme ‘Encounters Across Cultures: Seeds of Life’ installation at our House in September 2019.
Based in Shanghai, Dirty Pineapple are a dynamic and youthful fashion label known for their lounge suits and retro-new street vibes. They brought a unique aesthetic combining vintage and urban influences to the collaboration with video artist Katja Loher to create five outfits representing the Five Chinese Elements which feature in her video sculptures.
Dirty Pineapple created a limited-edition capsule collection that incorporated Katja’s evocative work on the fabrics in their signature styling. The exclusive and expressive line included specially designed robes and blazers which were available for pre-order at the pop-up display at our House.
